My yoga journey started when I was 18 and I went to my first yoga class.
What was this slow physical movement? With no music playing I was asked to close my eyes and watch my breath, and as my eighteen-year-old self- questioned how on earth could I see my own breath!
I was used to the high impact aerobic classes of the late eighties with bright lights and loud music – and yet somehow yoga left its blueprint.
It was many years later when I was going through a difficult period in my life consequently my health rapidly deteriorated and I developed an autoimmune disorder which literally brought me to my knees.
I was unable to walk or make any movement without extreme pain. I had been gifted a book on yoga and yoga philosophy which had been gathering dust, from it I started to practice breath awareness and breath control I felt the benefits to my physical and emotional health almost immediately.
From that time the many practices that make up yoga continue to nourish my health and wellbeing on many levels.
My curiosity and passion for yoga eventually led me to complete my 200 hour Yoga teacher training here at The Yoga Studio Carlisle.
My journey into yoga continues, but now I guide you through yours allowing you to experience the healing and therapeutic benefits of the yoga practice.
