My journey onto the mat…

My yoga journey started back in my final year of university, I went to bikram 3 times a week and it definitely got me through my final year!
There was then a gap of a few years, but when I came to a crisis point in my life in 2018, I needed to rebuild my strength- emotionally and physically, I straight away thought of revisiting yoga.
I’m so glad I did. My initial goal was to get physically stronger, and while that happened with regular Ashtanga practice, what I hadn’t expected was how powerful the journey was to more emotional and spritiual strength. The wonderful contrast to the fire and power of Ashtanga are beautifully gentle and introspective classes such as Yin and Restorative. I find that creates a lovely balance for me personally- having strength and vulnerability are both so important.
I was inspired to share the incredible power of yoga with other people so completed my Yoga Teacher Training here at The Yoga Studio in 2019. Since then I have really focused on teaching children’s yoga so have worked in schools in West Cumbria since 2019. I feel it’s so important for children to have the tools that yoga offers to help them thrive in the world we find ourselves in today. They’re tools I wish I had as an anxious kid growing up, so I feel so fortunate to be able to share the blessings and gifts of yoga with our future generations.
I look forward to seeing you and/or your little ones in the Studio soon!

My advice to students is…

“Never limit yourself with expectations, just relax, release and enjoy. You’ll be amazed at what you’re capable of!”
