50 Hours Yin Yoga Teacher Training - Level 2 - Modern Meridian and Chakra Theory

This course will be run over two weekends:

Friday 25/26/27th October and Friday 29/30th November and 1st December

This course is a follow on to Functional Yin in which the anatomy and physiology of the body is focused upon to empower teachers to give safe and pertinent guidance to their students in any asanas practice, not just Yin Yoga.

On this course you will review the principles introduced in Level 1 and will expand on this taking the focus from the physical to the energy body exploring the Eastern meridian system used in acupuncture, and the chakric system used by many traditions in spiritual practice. Asanas practice will be both Yin and Yang and energy work will be introduced through various classical breath and Chakra meditation techniques.

This course is being offered as a certified course for qualified Teacher Trainers and also those who wish to become Yin Yoga teachers without having completed either Level 1 or 200hrs teacher training course. In that case, however, she will pull together a developmental plan prior to authorisation in order to ensure that you have the necessary skills to teach safely.

Having studied with Paul for 11 years now, Rebecca will pass on the relevant and up to date information on how to teach Yin Yoga confidently and safely.

It counts as 50hrs CPD with Yoga Alliance.

Meet our Senior Teacher - Rebecca Shepherd

Rebecca was born and bred in The Lake District and lived in Cockermouth during her formative years.  As a young child she was fascinated by the poses in a Yoga book her Mum and Dad owned and used to copy postures like the cobra, bow and camel.  At school she became interested in drama and at 18 she left home to pursue an acting career in London.

She attended The Guildhall School of Music and Drama for 3 years and enjoyed the yoga influenced movement classes which she took.  Following her studies she appeared in a few TV shows and Fringe Theatre productions and also attended her first proper yoga course at The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in Putney.  At that time in the 90s, Ashtanga was becoming very popular and she began attending regular classes.  Then, in 2001, a friend who was living in Florida, talked her in to attending a Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in LA.  She taught this practice for a couple of years until, in 2004, she was handed a copy of “Yin Yoga – the foundations of a quiet practice” DVD by Paul Grilley.  The Yin practice felt right and the Yang aspect felt familiar and reminded her of her movement classes at Drama School.  That was it…. she had found her calling and in 2006 she attended her first 30 hour anatomy course with Paul Grilley followed directly by an amazing 6 day retreat with Paul and his wife Suzee and 10 other students.  Since then, she has  dedicated her life to spreading the word about Yin Yoga and traveling to study with Paul each year.

In 2008 she was honoured to organise the last UK retreat held by Paul in Cornwall. Paul and Suzee are globally credited with re-introducing the world to this deep practice and spent many years traveling the world teaching a functional approach to yoga.  They made a decision to stop flying a few years ago, so the only way to work with them now is to fly to California.  She has made the trip many times now and was one of the first instructors in the world to receive his 500 Hour teaching certificate in 2012.  She has 200 hours of advanced studies with him and continues to work with him so that she can share his immense knowledge with her students and stay up to date with all things Yin.
